Braking Resistor for Micromaster Inverters
This SINAMICS braking resistor has been designed for use with MICROMASTER inverters with integrated braking chopper, allowing loads with high moments of inertia to be quickly braked. Featuring a maximum rated power of 24 kW, 27 ohm resistance, DC-link voltage of 900 V max. and a normally closed (NC) contact. This capable braking resistor comes with an IP20 protection rating and dimensions of HxWxD – 515 x 270 x 175 mm and weighs in at 7.4 kg.
What does a braking resistor do?
A braking resistor is utilised to help dissipate the energy which a motor can generate during deceleration. During operation, excess energy is fed back to the inverter while the load and motor are being braked. As the braking resistor dissipates the energy that is generated by the deceleration process, this helps prevent damage to the motor drive which could occur due to the overvoltage produced.
